This was my first visit to this brunch place. I’d been curious but had heard the prices were a bit high. The truth is that the prices are indicative of the portion you receive. My daughter and I both ordered a biscuit sandwich (farmboy and bright side), a piece of blueberry cinnamon cornbread and a split a side of the rosemary Parmesan potatoes. Because the Sammie’s are served open face, you’re actually getting nearly twice the amount of food. Both were generously stacked with ingredients and the presentation was beautiful. We could only finish one half of our sandwiches. As for the taste, all I’ve got is WOW. The melding of flavors was so satisfying. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend this local spot. Well worth the money and time!
It’s a Small and personal hole-in-the wall with a pretty good vibe. The biscuit was good and obviously cooked fresh and the sausage-gravy was some of the best I’ve ever had and I’m from the South where biscuits and gravy are pretty much a staple. My wife and I sat down and found the price for one biscuit smothered in gravy to be $22. The accompanying water glasses were filled with tap-water that tasted awful. We weren’t offered spring or bottled water. The side serving of bacon was $7. So, I’d give it Salt Bloc Biscuit Co. the trophy for “Pricey but good” for this Dayton trip.
The restaurant is cute. The ambience was lovely- industrial, artistic, rustic? Eclectic. Lots of homemade pastries. The biscuits were buttery and perfectly toasted. The food was fresh, just a bit overpriced though the portion was generous. The tea was absolutely amazing, and they were quick to refill. The space is tiny so a bit cramped at peak time, but one of their tables is kind of fun-a long community table.
Cute lil modern downtown dinner feel. Really nice & welcoming staff. I caught them occasionally singing along with the music. Generous portions, rustic atmosphere and nostalgic happy belly food. Dope lil spot!
Hands down the best breakfast I've had in years, possibly ever. The passion for what they're doing is evident from every employee and the owner was walking around talking to customers. The shrimp and grits was new to me and it was so savory. Worth taking the chance with something new. The early bright was like an entire plate of flavor stacked on top of a biscuit. Tasted like a classic and brought the taste buds somewhere familiar and knocked it out of the park. Almond iced coffee was great. House coffee was awesome, the dishes for the cream and sugar were fun. Caesar salad with the biscuit croutons and egg was an exciting spin on a Caesar. Salt Block is a small venue that delivers on excellence. HIGHLY recommend, I'll be back!
Excellent food and pleasant ambience! The biscuits and gravy and lox sandwich were delicious and fresh. We didn’t try the pastries but the portions looked generous.
I've stepped back in time! Literally and figuratively. Here for our high school reunion and decided to check out East Third Street restaurants and WOW! THIS PLACE!!! Everything so fresh and homemade. The hand pie was spectacular. We split it and had biscuits to start. Phyllis had the thyme and I had the buttermilk, both amazing and served warm with honey and butter. They have an excellent assortment of teas if that's your preference. We had coffee and it was just like the coffee you'd get at old time diners. This place is hip old school and the vibe nostalgic. The FOOD, though!!! The attentive, fun wait staff made the whole experience so great. Glad we stopped in and we'll be back before we head home.
I am so happy my husband found this beautiful and unique place downtown for lunch. I loved the atmosphere and the ladies behind the counter were so friendly. The food we received was absolutely delicious. The different flavors of my dish danced around on my palette and it seemed like there was always something new with every bite. We got some blueberry cobbler to go and we are definitely looking forward to enjoying that later. Yes, the prices are higher but so worth it as it's not every day you find a hidden gem like this that makes food from scratch AND amazing! Keep up the great work.
